Julia Lockwood Biography

Julia Lockwood was born in Bournemouth, Dorset on 23rd August, 1941. Her mother, , named her Julia to commemorate her birth by Caesarian section.

Career

In British films from the age of five, in 1947 she appeared with her mother in (1947). Nicknamed Toots, as an adult Julia appeared in various coming-of-age films, as well as starring once more with her mother in the 1960s television series, (1965). Later work included saucy comedies on stage and screen.

Marriage and Children

On 18th December, 1972, Julia Lockwood married the distinguished stage actor Ernest Clark, best known to British television viewers for his role as the crusty Sir Geoffrey Loftus in the long running ‘Doctor’ comedy series during the 1970s. She was widowed in 1994 and after her death in 2019 left four children: Tim, Nick, Lucy and Katharine.
