When Stewart Granger began his acting career, he had to give up his own real name, James Stewart, to avoid confusion with the famous American star. After appearing in repertory, he appeared on the London stage and was an immediate hit. Soon he became one of England’s most popular movie stars, and then Hollywood beckoned.
