A psychotic woman is discovered to have poisoned three husbands

Wealthy Charlie Carrington honeymoons in Monte Carlo with his new wife, Bedelia, whose previous husbands died from ostensibly natural causes.

The new couple meet Ben Chaney, a young artist who wishes to paint Bedelia. Shy of having her likeness taken, Bedelia declines the offer and returns to Yorkshire with Charlie for Christmas.

Following the couple back to England, Chaney starts work on his painting, but Bedeliaโ€™s past is catching up with her...
